Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2, 2026.

This page describes what data we collect, what we do with it, and how to contact us about privacy questions.

What stays on your device

The calculator on ccpayoffcalc.com runs entirely in your browser. Your card balances, APRs, monthly payments, and any other inputs you type into the calculator are NOT sent to our servers.

When you click “Save snapshot” (an optional feature), the snapshot is saved to your browser’s localStorage on your device only. It is not transmitted to us.

Refresh the page and the inputs are gone unless you used the local-snapshot feature.

What gets sent to our servers

When you visit ccpayoffcalc.com, your browser sends standard HTTP request information to our hosting provider:

  • IP address (used for routing and rate-limiting; not stored long-term beyond standard server logs)
  • User agent (browser type and version)
  • Referring URL (if any)
  • Timestamp of the request

This is standard HTTP request data. It is the same data any web server receives. We do not link this to identity unless you take an explicit action (like emailing us).

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (or equivalent) with the following privacy-respecting settings:

  • IP anonymization enabled
  • No demographic or interest data collection
  • No advertising-personalization data collection
  • Default 14-month data retention

Analytics tracks: page views, time on page, scroll depth, traffic source, and aggregate device/browser information. It does NOT track your specific calculator inputs.

If you have Do Not Track enabled in your browser, we honor it.

Display advertising

This site displays advertising via Google AdSense (or equivalent programmatic ad network). The ad network may use cookies to:

  • Show relevant advertising based on your browsing history (across sites that use the same ad network)
  • Measure ad performance (impressions, clicks)
  • Detect fraudulent traffic

You can opt out of personalized advertising at the Google Ads Settings page or via the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out.

We do not have visibility into or access to the specific advertising data the ad network collects beyond aggregate revenue and impression reports.

Behavior-aware Payoff Coach (AI)

The Behavior-aware Payoff Coach is our AI-powered feature that turns your calculator results into actionable behavior steps. It uses Vertex AI / Gemini on Google Cloud.

When you use the Coach, the following data is sent to the AI service:

  • Aggregated calculator outputs (computed totals like “total interest” and “months to payoff”)
  • Your selected strategy (avalanche, snowball, etc.)
  • Aggregated profile data (number of cards, APR range)

The following data is NOT sent:

  • Your specific card balances (only aggregate totals)
  • Card names or issuer identifiers (we do not collect these)
  • Your personal information
  • Cookies or session identifiers tied to identity

The AI returns coaching steps. The AI’s responses are not stored on our servers; they are returned to your browser and discarded after the session.

Google’s Vertex AI privacy commitments apply to data sent to the AI service.

Cookies

We use the following cookies:

  • Essential cookies: to keep the site running (session identification for the AI Coach feature). These are first-party.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics for traffic measurement. These are third-party.
  • Advertising cookies: Google AdSense or equivalent for display advertising.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not break the calculator functionality.

What we do NOT collect

  • We do not require email signup
  • We do not collect names or contact information unless you email us
  • We do not link cookies to personally identifiable information
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade user data
  • We do not use any debt-collection, credit-bureau, or financial-product data sources

Data sharing

We do not share user data with third parties EXCEPT:

  • Google Analytics (anonymized traffic data)
  • Google AdSense or equivalent ad network (standard ad-serving data)
  • Google Cloud / Vertex AI (anonymized aggregate calculator outputs for the AI Coach)
  • Hosting provider (standard HTTP server logs)

We do not share data with debt-relief firms, credit card issuers, lenders, lead-generation companies, or any party that would use the data for financial-product marketing.

Your rights (US users)

Under various U.S. state privacy laws (including California’s CCPA/CPRA, Virginia’s VCDPA, and others):

  • You can request a summary of the data we hold about you (typically: minimal IP-and-request logs from server access)
  • You can request deletion of any data we hold about you
  • You can opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we do not sell or share user data)
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising (via the ad network’s opt-out tools listed above)
